There are two campsites to choose from in the parish, large and small.
California Cross Club campsite is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the South Hams. Off the beaten track and surrounded by rolling countryside, the campsite is nestled between the sandy beaches of South Devon’s Heritage coast and the dramatic landscape of the Dartmoor National Park.
Peace and tranquillity is what you’ll find here, along with a mix of level and sloping pitches and a good range of on-site facilities. The California Inn and a shop, both next door to the campsite, serve and sell locally produced food.
Nearby Modbury and Ivybridge offer a range of shops and places to eat. The latter will also appeal to walkers. The Two Moors Way starts here, traversing the National Park on its way to Lynmouth on the north Devon coast. Heading south the Erme-Plym Way links Ivybridge to Wembury. The beach here is known for its surfing and rock pooling.
Bigbury on Sea boasts the biggest sandy beach in south Devon. Catch the sea tractor from here to pretty Burgh Island. For windsurfing, canoeing and coastal walks go to nearby Wonwell beach. Mothecombe and Coastguards beaches are also not to be missed.
