The North Huish Community Group is delighted to have received an award at the recent Churches Conservation Trust Volunteer Awards Evening. They were joint winners of the Fundraising Initiative of the Year award and were nominated by CCT Community Officer Marie Leverett whose nomination is printed below:
“I would like to nominate the North Huish Community group for the Fundraising Initiative of the Year Award. This group was set up in 2023 with the purpose of organising community events for the residents of North Huish and surrounding villages. They have been successfully organising and running community coffee mornings, cake sales, concerts and other well-attended events. They have worked miracles at this rural church which has no lighting, heating, toilets and recently no water. Parking is extremely limited at the church but the group has made excellent links with a local enterprise to use their car park for community events.
Over the last year, as well as raising funds to support the maintenance of the church, they fundraised for and completed a successful Community Initiative Project to extend the electrics. From enquiring about the project in September 2023 they had raised the money needed and had the new electric sockets installed by November 2024. I thought the project ran really smoothly and efficiently, the group are organised and great to work with and it’s a wonderful example of a successful Community Initiative Project. Well done to the team and a big thank you for their efforts.”
The North Huish team would like to thank all our supporters. Everyone is most welcome to attend our events. The next one is a Harvest Lunch on 27th September, 12.30 – 2.30pm at North Huish Church.
